Read the MTF Melbourne transport plan

Melbourne requires a transport plan that provides people with real options. Leaving the car at home and choosing sustainable transport must be an option for all, not just those lucky or wealthy enough to live near public transport. Walking and cycling must be given the priority they deserve, making them an attractive and safe option for everyone from school children to the elderly. A liveable Melbourne needs to become more compact, making smarter use of space and reducing the need for car based lifestyles. Read the report on line

Introducing Friends of Tram 96

Friends of Tram 96

Tram 96 has its own lobby group – the Friends of Tram 96. Metropolitan Transport Forum (MTF) Chair, Cr Jackie Fristacky, and Deputy Chair, Cr Janet Bolitho, launched the group at a meeting on the Bumblebee tram to St Kilda.
Route 96 runs through Port Phillip, Melbourne, Yarra and Moreland; these councils are committed to promoting tram use.
Tram 96 links key locations including Luna Park, South Melbourne Market, MSAC, Southbank, Museum and Exhibitions Centres, Nicholson Village and CERES.
Friends of Tram 96 invites Melburnians and visitors to ride Tram 96, seeing all that Melbourne has to offer.
